You Have Used Streaming Video! Now, Are You Prepared To Create Them on Your Own?

You need to follow a certain process consisting of many steps if you want to create streaming video. To make streaming video available on for example a website you need to make yourself familiar with capturing, editing, and encoding film material, being audio, video,
or a mix of these two. This article will help you on your way if you want to find out how to make streaming video.

Things to Consider Before Creating Streaming Video Files

There are certain things you need to consider before creating streaming video files
The Video Format
There are many video file formats to choose from when creating video streams. The most commonly used video formats are:
  • Windows Media
  • Real Media
  • Quick time
Depending on the personal preference of the viewers of your video content you should decide what format you want to present your video content in. Windows Media Player is a much used and free media content player and is easy to use and compatible with any Windows platform. If you want to reach the biggest audience with your content it might be worth considering making the video files available for all these formats.

Streaming Methods

There are two major methods of delivering streaming audio and video content over the Web:
Downloading
In this method a web server is used to deliver the audio and video data to a media player. Users of a website can click on the file they want to see after which the content is downloaded on to their computer. The media player of choice will play the video.
Streaming
This method uses a separate streaming media server that deals with the audio/video streaming task, users log on to a website and click on the file they want to see after which the content will play without downloading it first.

Steps for Creating Streaming Video

You will need a storyboard and script for the project that you are about to film. Other than that, a good project plan will help you follow the right steps for a successful project:
Project Planning
To make your process of filming as easy as possible, creating a plan depending on your specific requirements, will enable you to successfully meet your goals. In order to establish a good plan you could ask yourself the following questions:

1.Who are you targeting your videos at, what kind of audience?

2.Are there copyright restrictions on your source material?

3.What will your content be used for?
Shooting & Recording
The more detailed a streaming video is, the less it can be compressed, and the harder it will be to stream to a wide audience. Minimizing the camera and subject motion when recording will make it easier to record a high quality video.
Capturing/Digitizing
After producing a video project, it must be transferred from a master tape onto a computer. The following things will help top make this process smoother:

1.Using a fast computer that can handle the data

2.Capture the video project at a high resolution

3.Capture the video at a full frame rate
Editing and Optimizing
The source material, the video content, might need editing after filming. It might be necessary to add titles and effects. After this process you could optimize the source content if you create streaming video, to make sure that users can enjoy the best quality video content. Things you could consider are:

1.Removing background noise

2.Equalization of noise levels in the recording

3.Cropping fuzzy edges of the content

4.Adjusting color contrast.
