As with commercial radio stations and television broadcasting companies there are several different kinds of internet radio stations. Radio internet stations are widely available for listening online and you can pick from a plethora of topics and tastes. Some examples of different types of web cast radio stations are:
Children and Teens

These stations play mostly popular music and offer information about teen related topics. Some radio stations for children and teens may focus on a specific group of children, for example teen gospel radio stations.

Informational
Informational radio stations offer discussions on varying topics, from news to horticulture and anything in between. Usually these stations offer talkback shows where listeners can ring in and have their say about a specific topic. There are informational radio shows offering educational discussions or courses too.
News
News radio stations offer local and worldwide news. Bigger stations tend to present the news that you will hear about in news broadcastings om the television and your local radio station will of course offer news on a smaller scale.
Sports
Focusing on either local or worldwide sporting events these stations will provide listeners with the results of important matches of your local clubs, and can often also offer radio exercise classes and interviews.
Teaching
Children in remote areas of the world might receive their school education via a radio. Internet radio is a very reliable method of radio broadcasting and is easy to use even for younger children. Lessons can be followed and radio stations can offer broadcastings for larger groups of students to listen to at the same time, but broadcastings meant for only a few students are possible too.

Radio Webcasting Issues

Often small independent web-based radio stations play music without paying licensing fees, risking legal action against them in the process. Every radio station playing music has to pay fees that will eventually go back to the recording artists and his or her record company. To not pay these fees when broadcasting is considered illegal.

Should Internet Radio Stations Pay Web Cast Loyalties?

Web casters have to pay loyalties to be allowed to play music on their radio stations on internet pages. This also goes for free internet radio stations and all web casters broadcasting internet radio shows have to apply for a licence to broadcast and pay a certain fee for the copyrighted works (the songs) that they are playing.

Internet radio web casting is an exciting development for both radio listeners and broadcasters, who, if they play by the rules, can reach a world wide audience from their own home, with their own radio show.
