Components of Webcast Technology System

There are different components to webcast technology that combine together to capture, create and deliver an audio or visual webcast. Each component performs a particular function in the creation and delivery of webcasts.
Audio and Video Source
The audio and video source refers to the source of the audio and/or visual content you wish to use in your broadcast. The type of source you wish to use will depend on the amount of money you wish to spend and the type of quality you are aiming for. At one end of the market is a simple web cam or microphone. At the other end of the market are a number of video cameras or camcorders with positioning devices that are connected to a controlling PC.
Audio and Video Capture Hardware
Audio and video capture hardware allows the audio or video source to be captured and stored in the computer. Depending on your source, audio and video capture hardware may not be required. Web cams, for example, come with their own video capture hardware built in to the device. A video capture card will capture the audio and visual file.
